June 2022: In the 11th lecture he has delivered for the Indiana University Alumni Association, Mark presented "Edgar Allan Poe: His Life, Literature, and Legacy" for IU's Mini University. Drawing on research he has conducted over the past three decades, Mark discussed Poe's tumultuous life of poverty and self-destruction, his brilliant poetry and fiction, and his impact on literature, art, music, and American popular culture. In his articles and books, including his 2020 Audible Original Edgar Allan Poe: Master of Horror, Mark has explored Poe's brain and creative process, as well as his "investigative fiction" and other subjects.
